Pharmacy Technician Certification in Rhode Island

There are two types of pharmacy technician license in Rhode Island, Tech I and Tech II. Both licenses require applicants to be 18 or older unless working as part of a career exploration program, hold a high school diploma or equivalent or be currently working toward a diploma and to be free of violations or felonies involving controlled substances.

 

Tech I license applications must be currently enrolled in a Rhode Island Board of Pharmacy-approved training program and are required to submit an affidavit confirming this from the pharmacist-in-charge.

 

Tech II license applicants must have successfully completed one of the following:

 

  • PTCB or EXCPT Certification Examination
  • ASHP Training Program
  • US Armed Services or US Public Health Service
  • Regionally accredited college or university program or secondary educational program

 

The application fee is $40.

 

Note that technicians certified or registered in other states may submit an endorsement application.
