RECERTIFICATION AND CONTINUING EDUCATION

Pharmacy technicians must re-certify every two years. A minimum of 20 hours of continuing education (CE) is required for recertification. This keeps technicians up to date with the most recent industry standards and practices.

The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB): PTCB accepts applications online or through the mail. The application fee is $40 for online submission and $65 for paper submission.

The Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ICPT): ICPT mandates at least one hour of CE must be in pharmacy law. Applications may be submitted online, by fax or by mail. The application fee runs between $40 and $50, depending on the type of submission.
