Pharmacy Technician Certification in Oklahoma

Oklahoma requires pharmacy technicians to hold a permit that must be renewed annually; the fee is $40. To apply for the initial permit, a technician must be currently employed and under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and hold a high school diploma or G.E.D. Pharmacy managers are required to provide two phases of training for pharmacy technicians; the first must be completed prior to receiving a permit and the second phase of on-the-job training must be finished within 90 days of receiving the permit.

While pharmacy technician certification isn’t required in Oklahoma, a pharmacist in charge can incorporate the pharmacy technician certification program into on-the-job training. Certification can enhance a technician’s understanding of procedures and regulations and improve chances for career advancement.
